1.
So lonely in this heart Eyes to the skybut no stars above Possession A black heart and soul Fragile flame kisses the wind Now take my handand walk with me Across this frozen land With hands out stretched You give me... Deceit the gift of love You give me... deceit the gift of love
2.
New Horizon 04:09
I’m on the outside looking in I didn’t lose, but i didn’t win Chaos brings you comfort and that’s how you thrive You threw it away, but i survived The sordid truth has not been told It’s in a place dead and cold Choices have been made But soon you’ll dig a grave For the newest casualty Now on the inside looking out I see your sickness that abounds Look past the shadows Look past the death Float to the surfacetake a breath On a new horizon You can’t touch me now
3.
Killing Time 04:55
Here comes your darkness again And the smell of rain on your skin Shallow memories from our past Cry in the wind That fill up the mastand cast these lost souls to sea For eternitymy baptism in the night, you could say I’ll drown below in every shade of gray On this, the holiest day Beneath the sheets, beneath the glass The killing time has come at last Waiting for the moment it’ll all go away You close your eyes and pray You show me your darkness again And the smell of smoke on your skin These painful memories from our past, cry in the windand fill up the mast And cast these dead souls to sea... for eternity
4.
In the dark i sit and stare A yellow candle burning Feel the breeze in the air Runs like fingers through my hair Reflection in the mirror A life before my time A face that’s cold, dead, and... Burdened with a thousand crimes Haunted eyes look throgh me Snow falls from above A million faces pressing Colours bleeding into one I feel as if I’m watching That i’ve lived one hundred lives But i can’t go forward So my time has come tonight For a death in the mirror My death in the mirror No more light A death in the mirror
5.
The River 04:17
Twisted, untamed It runs free for milesa dark antiquity Follow the river to the sea; below the surface is wherei’m free Smell the ocean surf Drink her waves The moonlit surface takes me down Suffocation is a liberation My only liberty Twisted and wild, it runs free for ages A dark antiquity Follow the river to the sea Below the surface is wherei’ll be.
6.
Long ago in a time that feels like yesterday There lived a life for which i knewsomeone would have to pay All the longing, all the pain, and the lonelinesswill one day drag behind you through the streets in the rain Long ago is a memory burnt in my head I wish i could have just silenced all the words you said All the darkness, all the lies, and the false trust Rots away at all the innocentlives you’ve touched Back at the old house where the air hangs dead and still She dances across the floor while frost kisses the windowsill In the end there is no warmth, there is no love or light Just the guilt you’ll drag behind you up this hill of spite
7.
As you rewrite our history in your memory what will you recall and will you think of me? Now the sun is hidden As the clouds move in the rain won’t wash you clean of all your filth and sin After the rain (after the rainfall) After the rain (after the rainfall) After the rain (after the rainfall)

about

L’Avenir returns with Requiem, the fourth, full-length album released on Barcelona’s Cold Beats Records. Requiem finds L’Avenir visiting themes of postmodernity, alienation and spiritualism while expanding the sonic palette far beyond his minimal synth beginnings. The music of L’Avenir has, at times, been compared to 4AD era Clan of Xymox or mid-period Depeche Mode. But while echoes of the former can be heard, L’Avenir brings a uniquely fresh perspective unheard in other bands of the genre. Requiem features eight new tracks and is available on limited edition blood red vinyl, compact disc and digital.
